This course offers teachers an opportunity to reflect on their current context and determine which aspects of practice could be made more neuro-affirming and inclusive, empowering them to support all of the learners in their neurodiverse language classroom.
There are 8 sessions, divided into 4 themes:
- Where, what, who,
- Learning strategies,
- Multisensory activities,
- Self-regulation.
Each session takes about an hour to complete.
After each theme there is a reflective task to do, which builds into a case study. When participants complete their case study by reflecting on their own context, they receive a certificate of participation.
This course includes free teaching resources to be used during and after the course.

The Neurodiverse Language Classroom

Assessing Multilingual Learners

This course takes participants through the process of identifying SpLDs in learners who are using English as an additional language, highlighting key issues that may be different from assessing English-speaking (monolingual) people.
There are 5 sessions: Issues and challenges, Evaluating literacy practices, Assessing memory, Processing, After assessment. Each session takes about 1 – 1.5 hours.
Participants can choose a case study to follow throughout the course, and at the end, produce a brief memo informing teachers about the learner’s cognitive profile, and suggesting some reasonable adjustments. Submission of this memo is required to receive a certificate of participation
This course includes a free CAML assessment tool; please allow a couple of days for delivery. Participants will still have access to the online resources needed to run the assessments, after the course is completed.

Understanding Neurodiversity - now updated to include DLD!

This course looks at 6 different specific learning differences, and the way that they overlap in neurodiverse people. It considers the impact that it can have on us in our daily lives, and particularly when we are learning.
There are six sessions:
- Exploring dyslexia,
- Dyspraxia,
- Dyscalculia,
- ADHD,
- Autism,
- DLD.
Each session takes about an hour.
Throughout the course, participants are asked to reflect on the characteristics of each neurotype, and to map where there are overlaps between them. On submission of the comparison chart at the end of the course, a certificate of participation will be provided.
This course includes free teaching resources to be used during and after the course.
